I was raised by parents who were ALWAYS doing something, especially my dad. It's not a bad thing to be productive, for sure, but even "useful" work can become dangerous to us in excess.

Busy-ness can be a sly tactic of the devil. We fall into a trap thinking that we have to work and provide some sort of good to have value when in reality, we have value because we were made good!

Yes! I think this is exactly it--when anything we do or love becomes the only thing we do or love, or just begins to overreach its proper limits, it risks becoming excessive and dangerous. What was it my mom always used to say, “Everything in moderation!”

Yes, rest is so necessary. I’ve found getting back into a rhythm here has been a struggle and it’s because rest has taken precedence over other priorities (connection, being online, writing even 😅) Love these thoughts Sara!

Thanks for sharing, Sara! I definitely feel slower (also it's an high of 4 degrees which is rude) and 100% feel the exhaustion of the gigantic hungry nursing baby. I sat down to feed her today, we'd just finished school and I guess everyone was happily playing. I got sucked into the ending of Pride and Prejudice and ended up spending the whole nap with a baby and a book. It was nice. And now everything is still dirty, but I'm happier about it 😂

Also, 4° is ABSOLUTELY rude. Our high today was like 35° and even that felt uncalled for.

“We ask so much of ourselves in this lifestyle that is, in many ways, so unsuited to our bodies.” —yes! Our current culture really goes against our natural inclinations in so many ways, we are constantly pulled away from the cyclical living we were designed for (especially for us women!). I enjoyed this article so much, I felt myself nodding throughout ❤️

I used to be a list maker when my 4 children were small, since they've grown up & moved on.I've somehow continued to keep a mental list of what needs to be done. Also, caretaking for my husband I tend to put my physical needs on that back burner when I know I shouldn't,but it's like a subliminal thing."Thanks for the article!" It really helped to confirm my need to be present & cognizant of taking care of me.🤗
